Dr Mustapha bin Osman passed through Penang last week by the President Munroe en route to Edinburgh to take up a post-graduate course there. He has been awarded a Rockefellar Scholarship and will go to America for further post-graduate courses.

Dr Mustapha bin Osman has just obtained the M.D. degree at the Hong Kong University. He left the Free School, Penang, to study medicine at the University of Hong Kong in 1917. He graduated in 1923 and held resident appointments in the University Clinics at the Civil Hospital for six months in the Surgical unit and six months as House Physician in the Medical Unit. He is now the Acting {Professor of Pathology and Bacteriology in the Hong Kong University. He is expected to return to Malaya some time next year and will join the service of the Kedah Gonernment.

Federation sets up body on Malay Education
A committee on Malay education, under the chairmanship of Mr L Barnes, Director of Social Welfare at Oxford University, has been set up to inquire into "the adequacy or otherwise of the educational facilities available for Malays."

Kuala Lumpur, Sun - A Malay student who studied at St. Andrew's School, Singapore, and passed the 1950 Cambridge School Certificate Examinations with a first grade, is one of the five students who will be going to Britain on Kedah State Scholarships.
The Malay, 19-year old Lorraine E Osman, is the only sone of Dr. Mustaff bin Osman State Surgeon, Kedah. Lorraine will study law at the Inns of Court, London preparatory to taking a university degree in law.

SOLDIERS, CIVILIANS GET THEIR AWARDS
Kuala Lumpur, Mon. - A General, soldiers, a doctor and public administrators were among those who received honours and awards from the High Commissioner Sir Donald MacGilliyray, in a ceremony at King's House today.
The State Surgeon in Alor Star, Dr Mustapa bin Osman, received the C.B.E.

Hong Kong, Thurs - The Governor, Sir Robert Black, in his capacity as Chancellor of the University of Hong Kong, yesterday conferred the honorary degree of Doctor of Laws on Dr Mustapha bin Osman, of Penang, and Mr Tay Gan Tin, of Singapore.
Both men took their first degrees at the university.
The congregation marked the 50th anniversary of the university's inauguration in 1911 - Reuter.
